Lavern H. Tiesel, age 84, of Mt. Vernon, MO, passed away on Sunday morning, February 11, 2018, in the Aurora Nursing Center, Aurora, MO after a lengthy illness.
Lavern was born on April 14, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, MO, son of Henry and Gertrude (Wilken) Tiesel.
Lavern enjoyed spending time on his farm where he raised cattle. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews; Sam Helmkamp and wife Jayne of Diamond, MO, Perry Helmkamp and wife Carrie of Arkansas, Linda Hammond and husband Dave of Crane, MO; and many extended family members.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, LouElla Helmkamp and Lucille Quade.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO. Reverend Jacob Sletten will be officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Radio Broadcast.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
