Dee Edwards

Delorise M. "Dee" Edwards, age 97, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 a local nursing center.

Dee was born March 12, 1921 in Freistatt, Missouri, daughter of the late John Henry Meyer and Anna Hagemeier Meyer. She graduated from Monett High School in 1939, and worked as an assistant Librarian with the Monett Library. She then went to work for Taralton McDonald Engineering Company while they built Camp Crowder. After the completion of Camp Crowder, she worked in Civil Service at Camp Crowder for several years. She then moved to Torrance, California for a while before returning to Joplin in 1961, where she worked for Gold Building Supply Company at 19th and Moffett for many years before retiring in the early 1980s.

Dee was an active member of Forest Park Baptist Church where she volunteered for several groups. She was involved with the Vision News Letter, and enjoyed her time with the New Beginnings Group, and loved being a greeter on Sunday mornings.

In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Edwards, who passed away on April 28, 1989; and her sister, Helen Marie Gold.

She is survived by a daughter, Jessica Allen; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jeaniann; five great-grandsons; nieces, Gloria Hefley and husband Jim of Joplin, Peggy Cossman and husband Dr. Bob Cossman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nephews, Robert Gold and wife Connie of South Carolina, and Craig Gold and wife Mary Kay of Joplin; several great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Evangelical Memorial Cemetery near Stott City, Missouri.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Integrity Hospice and Home Care.
