Kent Young

Stuart “Kent” Young, 75, of Monett, MO, passed away on Monday morning, November 19, 2018, while at his home with family at his side.

Kent was born on April 5, 1943 in Wichita, KS, son of the late Clement Aldin Young and Mary Juline (Gibson) Young. Kent graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1962. For several years, he drove a truck for Friend Tire before starting a nineteen-year career with EFCO as a Supervisor. He was a member of Countryside Christian Church and had been attending New Site Baptist Church for the last several years. Kent enjoyed fly fishing, camping and traveling, especially to Texas in the winter.

On February 24, 1962 in Verona, MO, Kent and Sharon Kay Sanders were united in marriage. To this union, they were blessed with three children.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Young, of the home; his daughter, Kristine Franklin and her husband Jeff, of Neosho, MO; eight grandchildren, Brian Young, Melissa Young, Megan Young, Samantha Myers, Emily Frencken, Sarah Young, Daniella Mayer and Kayleigh Franklin; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kent was preceded in death by two sons, David Young and Dennis Young; one brother, Curtis Young; and one sister, Eloise Beck.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Buchanan Funeral Home with Pastor Rocky Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
