Rodney William Hayes, age 65, passed away at 3:45 pm, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital Joplin, MO following an illness.
Rodney was born March 13, 1953 in Wallace, Idaho. His parents were Ray and Clara Mae (Phillips) Hayes. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.
He graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1971. He worked at Vilela Body Shop, Pittsburg, KS for 40 years retiring in 2010. He was a member of Pair-A-Dice car club. He enjoyed western movies, playing cards, and working on cars.
Survivors include 3 brothers, John Hayes (wfe, Linda) Tulsa, OK, Wesley Hayes (wife, Chris), Joplin, MO, and Wendall Hayes (wife, Donna), Weir, KS; Sister-In-Law, Suzan Hayes, Galena; 7 grandchildren , who affectionately called him Papa, , Hunter, Chance, Courtney, Kylea, Constance, Hayley, and Axel; and two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Jax.
Rodney was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation.
The family will have a dinner in Rodney’s memory at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Galena Senior Citizen Building.
