Laura Jean Jenkins, age 55, Joplin, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at her residence after a sudden illness.
Laura was born June 1, 1963 in Clinton, Missouri to Nancy Worley Jenkins and the late Charles Jenkins and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
Laura worked as an LPN at Freeman Hospital and several area nursing centers over the years. She enjoyed reading; wind chimes; humming birds; music and flowers. Laura was a true Christian and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Cara Higginbotham, Joplin, Michael Thompson and his wife, Yvonne, North Carolina, Sherryl Steele, Joplin; siblings, Catherine Alley and husband, John, Cheryl Jenkins, Cindy Oxendine and husband, Charles, Jennifer Sherrod and husband, Jon; her mother, Nancy Worley, Joplin; grandchildren, Tehya Littlerose Higginbotham, Samuel Higginbotham, Ashlyn Thompson, Brianna Thompson, Gabriella Thompson, Taevyn Steele; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Laura's Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Pentecostal Life Center, 5505 Gateway Drive, Joplin, Missouri 64804.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
