Erma Garrison

Erma Jean (Conway) Garrison of Diamond, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the age of 89 from Alzheimer's Disease.

Erma was born June 19, 1929 in Kendricktown, Missouri to the late Oral and Mindie Smith Conway. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lilburn H. 'Gary' Garrison; a daughter, Atalaya Garrison; and her sisters, Eula Mae Conway, Allene Hunt, Connie Carder and Irene Conway.

Erma graduated from Alba High School in 1947. Prior to getting married and starting a family, she worked as a waitress and a seamstress at Elder's Shirt Factory in Webb City.

On March 28, 1948, Erma married Lilburn H. Garrison of Galena, Kansas. Their first blind date was on New Year's Eve. A short three months later, they were married and lived happily for 42 years and 4 months before he was called home on July 28, 1989. They had four children.

She enjoyed family get togethers, playing cards, sewing, cooking and music. Erma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with family. She was a very loving and caring person.

Erma's memory will forever be cherished by her family, one brother, Bill L. Conway (Naomi); son, Lilburn H. 'Chip' Garrison, Jr. (Gail Barnhart); daughters, Yvette Rider (Les), Shawna Christiansen; six grandsons, Brian Garrison (Kim), Dave Rider (Kayla McGownd), Derek Rider (Amber), Jerad Christiansen (Vanessa), Danny Christiansen, Billy Christiansen; two granddaughters, Cristy Lloyd (Justin), Rachel Garrison; ten great-grandchildren, Noah, Trevor, Javin, Aleeyah, Maisy, Brayden, Callie, Isabella, Elizabeth, Trip; niece, Kim (Conway) Kolins; and great-niece, Kelsey Moer (Ben); her devoted caregivers, Frances North, Norma Landers and the caring people at Avalon Hospice.

Services are planned for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Roger Hasselquist, minister, will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
