Betty Wirick

Betty Louise Wirick, age 88, Joplin, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at her home.

Betty was born May 21, 1935 in Joplin, daughter of the late Warren Ben Myers and Dorothy (Oltman) Myers. She was a lifelong resident of Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School in 1954 before attending beauty school. 

She worked for over 30 years as owner and operator of Betty’s Glamour Salon in Joplin. 








She was a member of the Blendville Christian Church of Joplin. She was also a member of the National Hairdresser’s Association, Business and Professional Women Organization, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Over the years, Betty and her husband were doll collectors and were members of Heartland Doll Club. She was a dedicated family woman who loved spending time with her family. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Myers, Harold Myers, Jim Myers, and Garey Myers; and a stepson, Ollie Wirick.

Survivors include her husband, Louis Wirick; her only child, Kayla Hoffman Pekarek of Joplin; grandsons, Garrett Pekarek and wife Whitney of St. Louis, MO, and Preston Pekarek and partner Lydia of Wichita, KS; brother, Jack Myers and wife Carole of Joplin; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.








Funeral service will be Monday, July 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Final resting place is Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
