Tommy Cox

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Tommy Loyd Cox, 84, of Anderson, Missouri was promoted to glory on June 17, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

He was born to Lucille (Brown) Cox and Avery Solomon Cox on October 21, 1938 in Canon, Oklahoma. Tommy graduated high school in Velma-Alma, Oklahoma. He attended college at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma for a time.

He met the love of his life, Helen Joan Hash at church and they were married in Duncan, Oklahoma on June 27, 1958. Next week will be their 65th wedding anniversary. She survives of the home.

Tommy was a master plumber in the Plumbers-Pipefitters Union Local 525 out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that he owned his own business, United Plumbing Company in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Tommy was blessed with 3 daughters and 3 wonderful sons-in-laws. Joanna Gail and husband Marty Faulkinberry of Pineville, Missouri. Tammy Sherylanne and husband Andy Fitts of Duncan, Oklahoma. Tana Lynnette and husband Cliff Melton of Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Tommy loved building birdhouses and putting up “way too many” hummingbird feeders!! He loved painting “stuff” and was known to be “dangerous” with a can of spray paint. He loved gardening and never missed a year planting several varieties of tomatoes. He loved reading cookbooks and trying to “improve” recipes. He often said, “I kicked it up a notch!!” (which usually meant adding hot sauce). He was a firm believer that duct tape could fix anything.

Most of all he loved reading and studying the Bible. He was an evangelist who led many people to the Lord. While in the hospital, one of the chaplains came in for a visit and asked him if he could pray with him. Tommy said, “Sure” he took his hands and Tommy began to pray loudly for the chaplain. Tommy’s heart was with the people. When he preached at a prison in Oklahoma, he would buy guitars at pawn shops for the prisoners who came to services. He encouraged them to play Christian music for the services. He had prisoners inviting others to come. Several prisoners found Christ and a special friend in Tommy.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Flora Mae Olds of Duncan, Oklahoma. His 2 brothers, Shelly Cox of Duncan, Oklahoma, his brother, Steve Cox of Velma, Oklahoma. He is survived by his brother and his wife, Ray and Louranna Cox of Ratliff City.

Tommy is survived by his 4 grandsons Jason and wife Kellie Faulkinberry of Neosho, Missouri. Brandon and wife Elizabeth Faulkinberry of Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Joe and wife Dominique Melton of Rush Springs, Oklahoma. Luke and wife Alina Fitts of Seattle, Washington.

Tommy is survived by 11 great grandchildren. Jason’s children Isaac, Jesse, Noah, and JoyAnna Faulkinberry. Brandon’s children Alyssa, Colton, Tyler, Little Joe, and Landon Faulkinberry. Joe’s children Eric, Anna, Cole, and Hazel Melton.

Tommy was blessed with an abundance of friends and many nieces and nephews.
