Kenny Christerson

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Mr. Kenneth Charles “Kenny” Christerson, 84, of Anderson, Missouri, a dedicated husband, father of two and a friend too many, passed away on Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, from complications of a recent heart surgery.

Kenny was born on March 20, 1939, in Anderson, Missouri, son of the late Charles and Irene (Tippy) Christerson. He was born with a caring soul and the love of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Doug Christerson on January 12, 2023; and two siblings, Glenda Maness and Bill Christerson.

Kenny is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Myra Christerson of the home; a daughter, Gina Hoth and husband, Jay, of Goodman; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Christerson of Yukon, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Drew Christerson, Hailey Christerson, Claire Rosado, Adam Henson and Carson Hoth; two great granddaughters, Hayden Henson and Everly Rosado; two sisters, Margaret Wallis and Donna Hughes both of Carthage, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Kenny as most people called him was well known in the community. He was a barber by trade, cutting hair in Anderson for eighteen years. He then served twenty-two years as the McDonald County Assessor, being elected to that position for five terms.

Following retirement from the Assessors Office, he could be found on the farm doing what he loved the most, taking care of his cattle. He took great pride in knowing that he would leave the land better than he found it. Kenny was involved in many civic organizations throughout his life, the Missouri National Guards, the Lions Club, McDonald County Republican Club, Farm Echoes of Yesterday, was a MFA Oil Delegate and a longtime member of the Anderson Methodist Church. Kenny was one of a kind. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and those of his beloved community. This is not goodbye, it’s we’ll see you soon.
