Seth Yates


Seth Aaron Yates, 38, of Dayton, Ohio, a U.S. Air Force veteran of six years, passed away June 13, 2023. Born November 27, 1984, in Joplin, Missouri, to David and Patti Yates. Seth was a beloved son, brother, father and uncle.

His Air Force duties started upon assignment to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, as an AFSC 6F031 conducting financial management activities both at home station and deployed locations. 

Airman Seth served in Turkey and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 








Once departing the Armed Forces, he continued his passion for financial duties as a specialist working as a private government contractor. He graduated high school at College Heights Christian School, Joplin, Missouri, and Crowder College, Neosho, Missouri.

Seth was a compassionate and kind-hearted person who believed in spreading joy and kindness to everyone he met. His favorite saying was, "It takes zero dollars to be kind," and he lived by those words everyday.

He is survived by his parents; brothers, Joshua Yates and wife Jillian, Neosho, Missouri, Jeremiah Yates and wife Liz, Wasilla, Alaska, Simeon Yates, Anchorage, Alaska, and Ethan Yates, Joplin, Missouri; son, Tristian Yates, Beavercreek, Ohio; daughter, Hadley Yates, Beavercreek, Ohio; and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Joseph and Twilight Yates, and Melvin and Joan-Hollin.








A ceremony in honor of Seth's life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 4:00pm at Christpoint Church, 1500 East 7th Street, Galena, Kansas 66739.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made online at Christpoint.net-give-givenow-$amount-tithe&offering;-Yates Memorial Fund, to be placed in a dedicated account to be used for the resolution of homelessness.
