(From Lawson's Funeral Home)Jan Eric (JW) Wilkes, age 74, passed away on Sunday, June 18,2023 at his residence in Afton, OK. He was born on February 10, 1949, in Key West, Florida to Gale Eugene Wilkes and Mattie Elizabeth Badger.
JW is proceeded in death by his mother Mattie Wilkes and father Gale Eugene Wilkes.
He is survived by his wife Norma Wilkes of the home; Brother Carl F. Wilkes of North Dakota; his 2 sons, Eric Wilkes of Zena, OK and Carl Wilkes of Joplin, MO; daughter Valerie Wilkes of Zena, OK; 5 grandchildren Shila Pratt of Broken Arrow, OK, Ashley Wilkes of Midland, Texas, Bailee Wilkes of Jay, OK, Carl Wilkes, Jr. of Midland, OK, Logan Wilkes of Zena, OK and Braden Wilkes of Zena, OK; 6 great- grandchildren; extended family and friends.
JW served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. After serving in the US Navy during Vietnam, JW was a truck driver for many years covering endless miles over the years. If he was not working, you could find him fishing. He enjoyed driving to Missouri and Arkansas with his wife Norma exploring different restaurants, some good and some not so good! He will definitely be missed dearly by his family and friends.
JW’s family are planning on having a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date. The date and time will be posted when available.
