Rosalea Babcock

Rosalea Babcock, age 104, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Liberty, died on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 4:30 am in her home.

Rosalea was born June 11, 1919, in Liberty, Illinois, the daughter of George and Ora Lentz Diehl. She married Addison Babcock on August 9, 1936, in Liberty, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1976.

She was a graduate of Liberty High School. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband, Addison, for many years until he became ill. They moved to Liberty from their farm in 1976. 








Rosalea and Addison enjoyed visiting with neighbors, square dancing, playing cards, traveling with friends, and especially entertaining their grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and opened her home to her family.

After moving to Liberty, she spent time doing church activities, crafting, and traveling to visit grandchildren. She was part of a group of widow ladies that spent a lot of time together, eating out, playing cards and some traveling.

Rosalea was a former member of Liberty Christian Church until she moved to the Good Samaritan Cottages, in Quincy, in 1990, to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. In 2011, she moved in with them. When she moved to Quincy, she became a member of Faith Christian Church, now Faith Journey Church and was active in Bible Studies and the Ladies Ministry of the Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary "Joanne" (Ron) Harris of Quincy; three grandchildren, David (Vickie) Hull of Rose Hill, KS, Sandra (Dale) Henninger of Quincy, and Doug Hull of Dillon, CO; five great-grandchildren, Chris (Kadey Cook) Hull of Webb City, MO, Stephanie (Josh) Barger of Rose Hill, KS, Jerrica Henninger, Jennifer Henninger and James Henninger, all of Quincy; four great-great-grandchildren, Dayleigh Barger, Colbie Hull, and Mowgli and Hollis Roth. She is also survived by two grandsons, Dan (Jeana) Harris of Joplin, MO, and Rich (Nicole Lee) Harris of Fayette, MO; 20 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.








In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, Chad Harris, a brother, Harold Diehl, a sister, Mary Montgomery, a nephew, Jean St. John, a niece, Jeannette Wakefield, a special niece, Shirley Peden, and a dear friend, Jessie Bingaman.

Visitation: 9:00 - 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Services: 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Chaplain Richard Martin officiating.

Burial: Kingston Park Cemetery, Kingston, Illinois
