Ron Gibson

Charles Ronald “Ron” Gibson, age 82, of Carthage, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, June 25, 2023.

Ron was born on April 25, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Walter and Almeda Gibson (White). He was a graduate of Carl Junction High School where he met the love of his life, Linda Smith. Ron and Linda married on June 24, 1960, in Joplin, Missouri.









After high school Ron attended Joplin Junior College before moving on to graduate from the Harrison School of Preaching in Harrison, Arkansas. Ron began his full-time preaching career in Vernon, Alabama, serving the congregation of the Vernon Church of Christ for two years. In 1973, Ron and Linda moved their young family back to the Joplin area where he began his business, G&S Iron Works, in Webb City, Missouri. Ron ran a successful ornamental iron and fabrication business for over 50 years serving the Four-State Area.

Ron was a loving husband, father, minister and friend. He poured his heart and soul into every aspect of his life, always putting the needs of his loved ones and friends before his own. Throughout his life Ron was known for his hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence. He made a lasting impact on his community, earning the respect and admiration of his customers. His dedication to his work was surpassed only by his dedication to his family and serving the Lord.

Ron leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Linda Gibson. His daughter and son-in-law Robin and Doug Fuller of Joplin, son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Kelly Gibson of Webb City, son and daughter-in-law Russell and Denise Gibson of The Woodlands, Texas. His brothers Larry Gibson of Joplin and Jeff Gibson of Durant, Oklahoma and sister Rita Frazier of Joplin. His five grandchildren Amanda Powell, Emalee Harp, Leyna Fuller, Luke Gibson and Grant Gibson. One great-grandchild Mila Wilson.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Almeda Gibson and his brother Scotty Gibson.








As we mourn the loss of Ron, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he led and the profound impact he made on those who loved him and those fortunate to call him friend. Though he may no longer be physically present, his love and spirit will forever be with us.

A family-held celebration of life service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21 at the 26 th Street Church of Christ in Joplin. Pastor Jim Poland will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory Joplin, Missouri.
