Bessie P. Peters, age 86 of Joplin, Mo. Went to be with the lord early Friday, August 22, 2014 at National Health Care in Joplin following an illness.
Bessie was born on May 22, 1928 in Granby, Mo. the daughter of Frank and Mable (Howard) Peters. She has been a lifetime area resident, having worked at the Safeway Bakery for many years before retiring. Bessie then was the care giver for Mike and Brad Thompson, sons of the late Dr. Patrick and Debbie Thompson for over sixteen years.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Survivors include many loving nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law; Irene Peters, and special friends; Debbie Thompson, Bill and Phyllis Farris, Alice Dixon and Elsie Crouch.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Phillip Irwin, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the local Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
Bessie was my great aunt. Growing up she was always kind to me and remembered me on birthdays and Christmas. She never married or had children of her own. She selflessly sacrificed her life to care for her ill mother. I will always carry fond memories of her. RIP Beloved Bessie
