Wanda Bales

Wanda Jeanne Bales, 87, of Joplin, MO, died at 7:20 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at her residence.

 She was born November 18, 1926, at Lathrop, MO, the daughter of Joseph and Floice (Rone) Logan. She attended Lawson schools and graduated from Lawson High School. On June 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Brady Bales. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2010. Jeanne was a homemaker and a very devoted daughter, wife, and mother. She worked in retail, clerical, and in the childcare fields. She and her husband moved to Pittsburg, KS, in 1977 and then moved to Joplin, MO, in 1992. Before moving to Pittsburg, KS, they lived in Hume, MO, for 27 years. Membership was held at the College Heights United Methodist and the Christian Women's Club.

 She is survived by two daughters, Janice Jeanne Heckadon and husband Larry of Webb City, MO, and Joyce Elaine Long and husband Danny of Joplin, MO; a granddaughter, Tammy Michelle Fisher of Webb City, MO and husband Carles, and a great-granddaughter, Justein Jeanne Fisher, of Webb City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings LaRue Shields, Josie Thompson, Helen Logan, Louise Herod, and Herman Logan and five grandchildren.

 Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014, at Highland Park Cemetery with Reverend Joshua Gooding and Reverend Don Enright officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the College Heights United Methodist Church.
