Dorothy J. Ellis, 96, passed away August 10, 2014 at Mercy McCune Hospital, Carthage, MO.
Dorothy was born November 3, 1917 in Kansas City, MO to Robert Josiah Shultz and Rachel (Every) Shultz. Dorothy was a resident of Carthage for the past 40 years and worked at the Carthage Press for over 30 years. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Carthage, and volunteered at the Salvation Army.
Dorothy was united in marriage to John Ellis September 25, 1937 in Kansas City, MO he preceded her in death October 28, 1995. Dorothy is survived by one daughter Nancy J. Courtright of Neosho, MO and four sons Ronald Lee Ellis of Pampa, TX, Charles Norman Ellis of Carthage, MO and Gerald Robert Ellis of Jasper, MO., Gary Dean Ellis of Kansas City, MO., 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Dorothy had one brother and one sister.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday August 14, 2014 at Webb City Cemetery, Webb City, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Wednesday August 13, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
