Donald Sapp

Donald Floyd Sapp, age 67, of Carterville, Mo., passed away on Friday August 1, 2014, at the home of his friend Sharon Cole in Carthage, Mo., following an illness.

Don was born on November 10, 1946 in Carthage, the son of the late Alvin and Thelma Mae (Testerman) Sapp. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served in the United Sates Army Reserves. He worked for Atlas Powder Company. He was a member of the Masonic Fellowship #335 AF & AM, the Joplin Shrine and Abou Ben Adhem of Springfield. He served as the Shrine Hospital Chairman. He was a member of the Carterville United Methodist Church.

He married Beatrice Dahlman Sapp on January 7, 1966 in Carterville, Mo., she preceded him in death on June 14, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Sapp; a twin brother, Ron Sapp, and a sister Judy Garrison. He is survived by one son, Roger Sapp and wife Jolene, Joplin; one sister, Karen Brill, Carterville, Mo.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Carterville United Methodist Church. Reverend Bob Wynne will officiate.

The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Friday at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Children’s Shrine Hospital in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.
