Carl Wellmeier, Jr.

Carl G. Wellmeier, Jr., age 72, of Palm Desert, California, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert, California.

Carl was born August 14, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Carl and Helen Wellmeier. Carl was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Roatch and Elaine Lyon, and a brother, Ronald Wellmeier.

He grew up in St. Louis, and joined the United States Navy to serve for four years as a pharmacist while stationed in San Diego. He returned to the St. Louis area after his service, and worked as a manager of Suburban Pharmacy in Bridgeton, Missouri for 10 years. He married JoAnn Petty on September 12, 1970. They moved to Joplin where Carl was manager of May's Pharmacy, later transferring to Wichita, Kansas to serve as May's District Manager. He was a Christian and a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

He loved California, and after retiring moved back there. He enjoyed hiking and bicycling, and attending black tie dinner parties with his friends.

Carl is survived by two children, Amber Trudeau of Joplin, and Brian Wellmeier and wife Dana of Columbus, Kansas; three grandchildren, Trentyn Seger, D'nae Trudeau, and Jana Allison; a sister-in-law, Debi Wellmeier of St. Louis; a special friend, Gary Girard of Palm Desert, California; many other friends and family in the St. Louis area, and California. He will be greatly missed

Funeral services will be Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Joe Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
