Delwin Dunford

Delwin W. Dunford, 96, of Frontenac, formerly of rural Asbury, Missouri, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Via Christi Hospital. 

He was born May 30, 1920 at Addington, OK, the son of George Garrett and Evelyn (Griffith) Dunford. On November 29, 1941, he was united in marriage to Mildred E. Simcox at the Little House of the Roses at Forrest Lawn, California. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2013. Delwin was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Pittsburg. Mr. Dunford and his wife were foster parents, caring for over forty children. 

He is survived by two sons, Delton Dunford of Pittsburg and Lauren Dunford and his wife, Marlene of Lamar, Missouri; two daughters, Darlene Heinrick and her husband, Clayton of Washington and Janeva Stoyanowski and her husband, Albert of British Columbia, Canada; thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, his wife, a daughter, Janice Boatwright, three brothers and two sisters. 

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 5) at the Blackjack Cemetery, east of Pittsburg. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. Friends may call at the Brenner Mortuary, Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to sign the register. The family suggests memorials may be given to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
