Amos Maxwell (Max) Everett, 82 of Joplin, MO passed away suddenly, Wednesday, October 19, 2016, on the farm where he was born in Hickory, MS where he had gone to visit with family and friends. Max was born on August 23, 1934 in Hickory, MS to Samuel Amos and Etta Jane Everett, who preceded him in death. After high school, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Crowder in Neosho, MO where he met his wife of 59 years, Doris Faye Stipp. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for 40 years as a mechanic at Rocketdyne/Teledyne in Neosho, while also taking care of his cattle farm outside of Newtonia, MO. He retired in 1997 to pursue his true love of cattle farming until moving to Joplin in 2003. He served faithfully as a member of Granby Christian Church. Max is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Barney Everett; sister, Margie Everett; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Stipp) Howe, and brothers-in-law, Leslie Stipp and Harry Williams.
He was so loved and will be greatly missed by his survivors: wife, Doris Faye Everett; son, James Maxwell Everett and wife, Leah; daughter, Debra Jean Harwell and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jacob Maxwell Everett, Laryssa Morgan Everett, Grant Everett Harwell and Mason Reid Harwell; sister, Joyce Williams; sister-in-law, Nancy Stipp; brother-in-law, Nolan Howe; and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Granby, MO on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at Granby Christian Church, Granby, MO, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Mehrens officiating. Interment will follow in the Newtonia IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Granby Christian Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 26, Granby, MO 64844.
