George Carlin

(From Clark Funeral Home)

George Daniel Carlin, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at the age of 91.

George was born on April 7, 1925 in Rocky Comfort, Missouri to John and Mary (Chancel) Carlin and was the last surviving child of eight. George committed his life to follow Christ in his mid forties in a church service; his life was changed from that moment forward. He was a wonderful father; a man of quiet strength, conviction and perseverance. He worked hard to provide for his family and gave an abundance of love, support and wise counsel. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort, Missouri. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He worked as a foreman for Snyder Construction Company in Joplin for forty years. He was a skilled carpenter who had to the ability to manage, design, build a new bridge or repair an old lawn mower. He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands and for 55 years, he also owned and operated a farm outside of Rocky Comfort, before moving to Nixa to be closer to his son.

George is survived by his only son, Jerry Carlin who is pastor of The Springs Church and his wife, Donna of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Justin Carlin and his wife, Lurin of Fuquay Varina, NC; Caleb Carlin and his wife, Sara of Nixa, MO and Charissa Fuhr and her husband, Brandon of Springfield, MO; and five great grandchildren, Tenley Carlin, Taelyn Carlin, Landry Carlin, Lawson Carlin and Blakely Fuhr. Someone said the best thing, a Godly man can give his children is to love their Mother; if that is the truth, we are truly blessed! Dad and mom deeply loved each other! They were married for 69 years and he was by her side until she took her last breath in February, 2016. After a short separation, they are together again in heaven!
