Stephen Howard Van Slyke, age 71, of Webb City, Mo. passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Mr. Van Slyke was born on February 8, 1947 in Joplin, Mo. to the late Howard and Norma (Thornberry) Van Slyke. On June 6, 1968 he was united in marriage to Mildred Wilson In Webb City, Mo. Stephen was employed by The Joplin Globe for 16 years as a foreman in the mailroom. He owned and operated C&V Classic Restoration for 35 years. Stephen loved to restore classic cars and enjoyed wood working as a hobby.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mildred Van Slyke, of Webb City, Mo., One daughter, Shelly Muncy and her husband Don of Lamar, Mo., one brother Bruce Van Slyke of Webb City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kalli Hutson and husband Joshua of Lamar, Mo. and Braxtyn Muncy of Lamar, Mo. He was proceeded in death by a daughter Alicia Van Slyke and one sister-in-law Catherine Van Slyke.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin. Burial will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin.
