Roger Coe

Mr. Roger Thomas Coe, 77, of Goodman, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, April 29, 2021, in the comfort of his home.

Roger entered this life on May 1, 1943, in Guthrie County, Iowa, one of four sons born to the late Harold Kenneth and Viola (Crawley) Coe. He was raised in Casey, Iowa, where he graduated high school in 1960. 









 
On December 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carol Pridemore and to this union five children were born. Roger drove a truck for the majority of his life. He was employed by Buddy L Toys, Neosho Products, Sunbeam, Jardon and Ozark Wood Products, before retiring in 2018. Roger enjoyed fishing, visiting with his family and friends and being on the open road.

His parents and three brothers, Dwayne, Melvin and Willie, preceded him in death.

Roger is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Carol Coe of the home; his five children, Georgene Austin and husband, David, of Neosho, Leroy Coe of Goodman, Stanley Coe of Goodman, Arbadella Hobbs and husband, Mitchell, of Goodman and Michael Coe also of Goodman; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 2, 2021 from 2-4:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website, www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.

Janith Neumann

Janith Kay Neumann was born December 21, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas, one of four children to Fred E. and Ramona L. (Lowrey) Neumann. She entered into rest on April 28, 2021 in Overland Park, Kansas, following an extended illness at the age of 69. 

Janith lived in Neosho for many years before returning to the Kansas City area. She loved dogs and had a special bond with her dog, Bridgett. She enjoyed playing bingo and was of the Baptist faith. 








Janith is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ramona Neumann and a brother, Randy Neumann. 

She is survived by two brothers, Fred Neumann, Jr. and Jeffrey Neumann, along with numerous other loving family.

Marcy Myers

Marcelline "Marcy" H. Myers, age 87, of Monett, MO, formerly of Coldwater, KS, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Lacoba Homes Inc. in Monett, MO. Marcy was born in Kingman, KS on Thursday, January 11, 1934; the daughter of Henry and Anna (Posh) May. 

Mrs. Myers was a Registered Nurse. She loved to have a flower garden, enjoyed painting, coloring in adult coloring books, playing cards, and putting puzzles together. 








Marcy enjoyed Monett Senior Citizen center for lunches and other activities. She called Bingo there for many years. While in Kansas, Marcy was a member of the Red Hat Society in Wilmore and enjoyed taking bus tour trips when younger.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanie (Steve) Osborn in Pierce City, MO; three sons, Ronnie (Dixie) Myers of Sarcoxie, MO, Alan (Brenda) Myers of Medicine Lodge, KS, and Walter "Wally" Myers of Goddard, KS; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews as well.

A Celebration of Life service will be planned by the family at a later time. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City, MO.

Mike Durbin

Michael E. Durbin, age 71 of Galena passed away at 4:27 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Mercy Hospital of Joplin, MO.

Mike was born on January 10, 1950 to the union of Earl Andrew Durbin and Nelle (Terry) Durbin. He graduated from Neosho High School before attending college to become a tradesman. He had lived in various towns throughout the four-state area before settling in Galena in 1986. 








For over 40 years, Mike operated Durbin Construction. He was a master at framing houses, and completed several framing jobs on notable homes throughout the four-states. He frequented Frank’s Lounge in Joplin, was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, and enjoyed spending his free time fishing. 

He was very active in starting a Softball League in Galena where he made many lifetime friends. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Later in life, he became affiliated with the Pentecostal Life Center south of Joplin.

Mike was united in marriage with Peggy Rudd. They later divorced. He then married Terri (Burkybile) Durbin in Las Vegas, NV on November 8, 1996. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2020.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Nelle; one son, Eric Durbin; and two brothers, Randy and Eddie Durbin.

Survivors include two sons, Chad Cole (wife, Sarah) of Joplin, MO, and Brad Cole (wife, Amanda) of Baxter Springs, KS; two daughters, Crista Sifferman (husband, Rusty) of rural Newton County, MO, and Jennifer Hoover (partner, Brittany) of Miami, OK; four siblings, David Durbin of Miami, Joyce Jones (husband, Gary) of Seneca, MO, Terry Durbin of Seneca, and Jim Durbin (wife, Rose) of Seneca; one sister-in-law, Debbie Durbin of Loma Linda, MO; eight grandchildren, Garret Castor, Montanna Lansaw, Vada Cole, Ethan Durbin, Erica Hoover, Jaxson Cole, Zachary Sifferman, and Kelsey Sifferman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Pentecostal Life Center, 5505 Gateway Drive, Joplin, MO. Pastor Jarrod Jones will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chad Cole, Brad Cole, Garret Castor, Adam Durbin, Ethan Durbin, and Montanna Lansaw, with honorary pallbearers being Bob Deardorff, Dr. Mike McDonald, and Bill Cowan. Burial will follow at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 6-7:00 PM at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena.

Kenney York

Kenneth “Kenney” L. York of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, September 22, 1944 in Pittsburg, Kansas to the union of W.L. and Henrietta (Chancellor) York, Jr.

On Sunday, April 25, 2021, following a sudden illness, he passed away surrounded by family at the Harry S. Truman V.A. Hospital in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 76.








Throughout his life, Kenney spent time working with his father on the family farm in Columbus, Kansas. He also had a long and successful corporate career which began as an engineer at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. He retired as a Global Resource Manager at Dana Brake Parts Manufacturing Company, where he spent the latter part of his career traveling to China and India. The last few years, he has enjoyed making a home with wife, Lois (Macchi) Hummert-York in rural Cuba, Missouri.

Kenney honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of Prudence Lodge #100 A.F. & A.M. Columbus, Kansas, Mirza Temple Pittsburg, Kansas, and the C.K. Clowns of Columbus, Kansas. He was Past Commander of the Keith Reeves Post #3 A.L. and a member of Cuba Memorial Post #522 A.L.

In Kenney’s spare time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, collecting guns, hunting, metal detecting and woodworking.







Kenney is preceded in death by his father W.L. York, Jr.; two daughters, Julie Edwards and Marjorie Norris; one brother-in-law Keith Westervelt.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Lois of Cuba; children Janet (D.G.) Ellison of Columbus, Kansas, Jacque (Stephen) Litle of Harrisonville, Curt Reynolds of Cuba, Renee (Terry) Sellers of Cuba, Gregg Hummert (Lauren Swearingen) of St. Louis, Melissa (Stefan) Lonzo-Green of Rochester, Minnesota, Donna (David) Benedict of Scammon, Kansas; mother Henrietta (Chancellor) York of Joplin; three sisters Bobbie Westervelt of Cherokee, Kansas, Connie (Jack) Taft of Webb City, Pamela Evitts of Lamar; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends and “bonus” children.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Masonic Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 5:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home and conducted by Cuba Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M.

In honor of his years in the United States Army, full military honors will conclude the afternoon of celebrating Kenney’s life.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Gateway 180.

Ernie Kloss

Ernest W. “Ernie” Kloss, age 82, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Westgate, following a long-fulfilled life.

Ernie was born on November 16, 1938 in Wisconsin Dells, WI, the son of the late Walter and Beulah (Phillips) Kloss. 

He worked for many years for Tyson Foods. He enjoyed fishing and dancing with his wife, Claudine. He was known as Mr. Fantastic if anyone asked how he was it was always “Fantastic”. He was a Baptist.








Ernie married Claudine Russell Hollingsworth on June 5, 1994, and she survives. Ernie is also survived by one son, Dennis Kloss and wife Donna, Bentonville, AR; one step-son, Steven Hollingsworth and wife Nancy, Neosho, MO; two step-daughters, Lyn Williams and husband Billy Neosho, MO, and Lisa Christerson and husband Doug, Edmond, OK.; two sisters, Margaret Honigns, Topeka, KS, Lorraine Yennie, Byron, MN; a sister-in-law, Joyce Kloss, Rochester, MN; seven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Alan Kloss in 2007, and a brother Merlin Kloss.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Steve Hollingsworth will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the mortuary.

Ronald Kammerdiener

Ronald Tye “Kelly” Kammerdiener, 85, died on Thursday, the 22nd day of April, 2021, at his residence. Born in Carthage, Missouri, he was the son of the late Milo Hugh and Lillian Vernice Dyer Kammerdiener. 

He attended the Simpsonville United Methodist Church. A veteran of the United States Air Force, his memberships included Post 170 of the American Legion. He was a graduate of Joplin High School in Joplin, Missouri, and began his career as a pressman with the Joplin Globe, ultimately retiring after twenty-seven years as an employee of the Courier-Journal in Louisville. 








He was a sports enthusiast and was a fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, the Saint Louis Cardinals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. An auction-goer, he bought and sold knives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Tye Kammerdiener, and his brother, Jerry Milo Kammerdiener.


His survivors include his wife, Margaret Smith Kammerdiener of Louisville; his sons, Barry Milo Kammerdiener and his wife, Claudia, of Louisville, Brent Andrew Kammerdiener of Lee’s Summitt, Missouri, Randall Robert Kammerdiener and his wife Chantelle, and Thomas Shane Kammerdiener, all of Ponte Vedra, Florida; his daughter, Andrea Lynn Zarvell and her husband, Paul, of Eureka, Illinois; and his nine grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be private with Reverend Richard Holladay officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:45 P.M., Monday, the 26th day of April, 2021, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville. Social distancing must be observed and anyone entering the funeral home will be required to wear a mask and submit to a temperature check. Interment will be in the Simpsonville Masonic Cemetery. William Jay Dean “Jay” Rector, age 66, passed away at 12:55 pm, Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Galena Nursing and Rehab Center, Galena, KS following an illness.

Jay was born September 21, 1954 in Neosho, MO. His parents were Joe Dean and Edith Colleen (Mapes) Rector. He had lived here since 1972.

He graduated from Altus Oklahoma High School with the class of 1972. He worked most of his career in retail sales, last working at Downstream Casino. He was a champion pool player, playing in several tournaments including contests in Las Vegas, NV. Jay also enjoyed running in marathon races.








Surviving is one daughter, Poppi Landers (Zack), Winter Haven, FL; two grandchildren, Zoe Landers and Ethan Landers; 6 brothers, Dale Rector (Sherry), Oklahoma City, OK, Russell Rector, Miami, OK, Doug Rector, Joplin, MO, David “Critter” Rector (Kelly), Duenweg, MO, John Leary, Independence, OK, and Robert Leary (Jennifer), Joplin, MO; two sisters, Deana Scott, Baxter Springs, and Marcy McCall (Monty), Wyandotte, OK; his uncle, Dale Rector (Carolyn), Wichita, KS; two aunts, Stella Bolden, Collinsville, OK, and Anna Ray McClure, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him very much.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Joe Rector, his step-mother, Leslie Rector, his mother Colleen Collins, two step-fathers, Robert Leary and Ed Collins; and one sister, Edith Diane Russell and his lifetime best friend Mike Mitchell.

He was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation.

The family will host a celebration of life at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the farm where he lived.

Zoe Fae Wyatt of Miami, OK passed from this life Friday, April 23, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 7.

Zoe was born April 8, 2014 in Miami, OK to Zackary Dale and Angelic Marie (Wagens) Wyatt. She had lived in Miami all her life and attended school at Roosevelt Elementary School in Miami, OK. Zoe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce, OK.









Survivors include her parents Zackary and Angelic Wyatt of the home. 2 brothers Zackary Dale Wyatt, II and Xander Kage Wyatt all of the home and 1 sister Hannah Rai Elizabeth Wyatt of the home, paternal grandparents David and Jammie Sartin of Miami, OK and maternal grandparents Delos and Shelia Wagens of Miami, OK.

Kaitlyn and Jordan Kibel

Kaitlyn Nicole Kibel, 28 and Jordan DeWayne Kibel 10, of Quapaw, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, April 23, 2021 following a motor vehicle accident.

Kaitlyn was born February 4, 1993 to Stoney Dean Kibel and Shelly Lyn Myers. Kaitlyn graduated from Quapaw High School with the class of 2010. 

She was currently working at Freeman Health Systems as a receptionist. Kaitlyn adored her family and her children and was always their biggest cheerleader.








Jordan Dewayne Kibel was born December 15, 2010 to Kaitlyn Nicole Kibel in Miami, OK. He was currently the third grade. Jordan loved playing football, basketball, and baseball. During the summer he enjoyed swimming and fishing. He enjoyed all of these activities with his best friend and brother, Brantley Dennis Wagens.

Kaitlyn and Jordan are survived by Shelly Lyn Myers and husband Roger of Galena, KS; Stoney Dean Kibel of Joplin, MO; Brantley Dennis Wagens; Abby Porter; Judy and Earl Kibel; Nancy and Leonard Preddy; Dakota and Dalton Kibel; Shellie and Darin Myers; Austin Wagens of Pennsylvania.

They are preceded in death by Dennis Myers; Irvin and Maxine Myers; and Dorothy and Homer Bolin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Burial will follow in the Columbus City Cemetery. Heather Rains

Heather Marie Rains age 45 of Webb City, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at her home. She was born in Nevada, Missouri on August 11, 1975 to Robert H. McCoy and Cynthia (Hoagland) McCoy. 

Heather was a manager for many years at Empire Finance, she loved to read and garden and take care of her three pugs. 

She married Kevin Rains on April 17, 2004 and he survives her. 








She is also survived by her father, Robert H. McCoy and Lou Ann Achey; a brother, Aaron M. McCoy; a nephew, Kolton R. McCoy; children, Leslie Capps and husband Joe, Russell Rains and wife Amy; grandchildren, Damon Capps, Elizabeth Rains, Connor Rains, Bradly Rains, and Evelyn Rains. 

Heather has been taken for cremation and the family will announce services at a later date.

Alan Nelson

Alan C. Nelson age 78 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was born in Lennox, California on March 8, 1943 to Chet Nelson and Harriet (Chipman) Nelson. 

Alan was a retired United States Navy Veteran having served in the Vietnam War on the USS Maddox, DD-731 as a communications specialist. After retiring from the Navy, he joined the United States Air Force Reserves. He also retired from Empire District Electric Company. 








Alan was a member of Christ's Church of Oronogo, loved to go to cruise nights with his friends, collected knives, and was a member of the American Legion. 

He married Doreen (Haggard) Nelson in Neosho, Missouri and she survives him. 

Alan is also survived by his children, Teri (Nelson) Taylor and husband Kip of The Villages, Florida, Kimberly (Nelson) Utter of Pierce City, Missouri, Amy Covert and husband Michale of Webb City, Holly Bowers and husband Billy of Joplin; grandchildren, Tyler Huddleston and wife Danielle, Nate Huddleston, Kelcie Hunt and husband Ryan, Lacey Hatcher and husband William, Garen Nelson and wife Morgan, Desire' Covert, Josh Covert, Riley Bowers, and Avery Bowers; 6 great grandchildren; and sisters, Hannah d’Havilan of Joplin, Missouri, Mary Gilbert of Oregon; and a brother, Charlie Nelson of Utah. 

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister. 

The family will have a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Christ's Church of Oronogo. The family will be present for a visitation from 9:30 AM until service time. A committal service will be held following the services at Mount Hope Cemetery with full military honors.

Kimberly Upton

Kimberly A. Upton, 53 of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on April 25, 2021 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on April 10, 1968 in Overland Park, Kansas to Carolyn Ann and Donald Upton.

Kimberly was a very loving mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. When she loved, she loved with everything in her, especially her family.








She is survived by her 2 daughters, whom she was so proud of and loved so deeply, Terra Neal of Quapaw, Oklahoma, and Ashley Lawrence of Carl Junction, Missouri; her two Son-in-Laws Kyle Neal and Austin Lawrence; her 3 grandchildren who were the light of her life, Kolton Neal, Riley Lawrence and Tyler Lawrence; the father of her two daughters, Mark Upton, and her two little 4 legged loves, Sugar Shack and Buddy the Elf.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Mark A. Upton; her mother, Carolyn Upton and a significant other whom she loved dearly, Bill Dunaway.

Kimberly began her tax career at the age of 17 beside her Mother-in-law, Scarlet Upton. In 2001 she purchased the family business, Upton Tax Service, and relocated the business to Webb City. She had such a passion for what she did. She loved her clients. They were more than just clients to her, they were more like friends and family.

Kimberly was living her best life! She fulfilled her dream of buying a farm for her family to enjoy and spend quality time. The farm was called “Our Happy Place”, and it truly was her happy place, her slice of heaven, especially the back porch where she could enjoy her Patron and the beautiful scenery while listening to music. She had a passion for dancing and having fun. Her smile was so contagious and brought light to anyone she came in contact with. She never met a stranger.

Her family was absolutely everything, as you could tell when walking into her office. She had so many pictures to be proud of that she enjoyed sharing with her clients. Clients also loved to be part of the “wall of fame” and be included in her collages.

She was a very humble woman with so much love to share. Kimberly was a woman of class, determination, dedication, loyalty, ambition, diligence and devotion. If you asked anyone who knew her what she was passionate about, they would say, her daughters, her grandbabies, her friends, her clients, her dancing boots and riding her four wheelers.

Joe Roe

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Daniel Funeral Home for Joe Lloyd Roe, who passed away on December 11, 2020 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Joe was born September 7, 1924 in Versailles, MO., to Dorsey and Alma (James) Roe. He married Betty Lee Griffin on June 14, 1947 in Lamar, MO.

Joe moved to Lamar and worked at the Lamar Democrat for many years before taking over for his father-in-law, Pat Griffin, as an agent for Banker’s Life Insurance, now known as Principal Life Insurance. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II. 








He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a Mason and was a member of the Metro Club. Joe enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals play ball. Joe loved his grandkids and great-grandkids and is greatly missed by his family.

Survivors include his wife Betty Lee, one son; David Roe, Lamar, two grandchildren; Ashley Roberts and husband Gregg and Jeffrey Roe and wife Brandy, one brother; Roy Roe and wife Joyce, Oregon City, Oregon, one sister; Elizabeth Jaeger, Nashville, Tennessee and nine great-grandchildren; Shae Roberts, Brecken Roberts, Trace Roberts, Mason Roe, Marlee Roe, Zyler Leonard, Alaiagha Leonard, Ricky Sewell and Persais Sewell as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dorsey and Alma Roe, three brothers; David Roe, Dorsey Roe Jr. and Ed Roe, a brother-in-law; Joe Jaeger and a daughter-in-law, Linda Roe.

Karen Block

Karen Block, age 60, of Atascosa, TX, passed away on April 22, 2021 at her home.

Karen was born on July 14, 1960. She spent her teenage years in Missouri where she met the love of her life, Chris Block. 

 After they were married, they relocated to San Antonio where they have resided for the past 35 years. Karen’s wishes were to return to Missouri for burial, a place she dearly loved.








Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Chris Block; four children, Jacob and Shannyn Block, Joseph and Samantha Block, Rachel and Joshua Dray, and Joshua and Ebonee Block; her mother, Leona Schneider; her siblings, Mike Brannam, Lori Philo, Cindy Brannam, and Mark Brannam and their spouses; ten grandchildren with the eleventh on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Sarcoxie Cemetery in Sarcoxie, MO.

Raymond Mathews

Raymond Lee Mathews, Sr., age 68, of Purdy, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Aurora Nursing Home in Aurora, Missouri. Mr. Mathews, son of Adrain and Mae (Mitchell) Mathews, was born on December 15, 1952, in Aurora. 

With living in the area his entire life, Raymond was well known by so many for having old car parts and other things they might need as well as working on their vehicles. He also enjoyed drag racing and spending time with his family.






 

Survivors include his two sons, Roy Mathews, of Fairview, and Raymond Mathews, Jr., of Exeter; two granddaughters, Francis and Adriana Mathews, of Fairview; one sister, Sharon Galloway, of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Mathews.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Donna Mosher

Donna Patricia Mosher (Baerg) was the youngest child of Menno and Bertha Baerg. She was born on October 5th, 1941, in Port Alberni, B.C, Canada.

In 1959, Donna attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.. She studied pre-med for two years, before transferring to University of Washington in Seattle, WA where she met her future husband, Mel. 


In 1963, Donna graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. On June 19th, of the same year, Donna married the love of her life, Dr. Melvyn (Mel) Mosher.








The couple moved to Idaho, where Donna served as a Laboratory Supervisor at the Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, while Mel finished his PhD. They moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for a few years before moving to Huntington, WV. She was a devoted wife and mother to her three sons: Michael, Craig, and Tom. Education was a lifelong passion of the Mosher family, and in 1974, Donna graduated with a Master of Science in Biology from Marshall University in Huntington, WV..

After graduation, Donna and her family moved to Joplin, MO. In 1976, she began working as a Medical Technologist for Oak Hill Hospital, now a part of the Freeman Health System, specializing in Bacteriology and Hematology, until her retirement in 2003.

Donna embodied living her life to the fullest and she constantly pursued her passions. As an active member of both the Joplin Area Town and Country Quilters and the Stich Group, Donna participated in several community service projects, quilting retreats, and live quilting demonstrations at George Washington Carver Days. Donna was also a globetrotter, who frequently traveled the world. Several memorable trips include: Australia, Iceland, Costa Rica, Italy, Cuba, and a riverboat tour down the Danube River through Germany. Education and learning opportunities were essential to the Mosher family, and Donna was a lifelong learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She took courses in Computers, French, Spanish, and Sushi Making.
While quilting, traveling, and learning were a large part of Donna’s life she was also an active member of the Joplin community. Donna was a member of the St. Paul’s Methodist Church, coached several generations of youth soccer, and was a member of the Foreign Food Club. Everyone who met her was touched by her compassion, love of adventure, and friendship.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Mel Mosher. She is survived by her sons; Michael and wife Kristie (Greeley, CO), Craig and wife Theresa (Independance, MO), Tom and wife Stacey (Osage Beach, MO); her brother, Richard and wife Judy (Gig Harbor, WA); five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Donna was altruistic and generous. She was an annual sponsor of the Rainbow Network and Heifer International. She also frequently donated to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s, St. Paul’s Methodist Church, several former colleges and universities, and the Mosher Scholarship Fund at MSSU.

Loraine Long

Grace “Loraine” Long, age 89 of Joplin, MO., passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Loraine was born on July 17, 1931 to Leon & Leona Bixler in Anderson, IN. She was the 4th of 12 children. Loraine graduated from White Rock High School in Jane, MO. in 1951. 

Loraine married Albert Long on May 20, 1951. She worked as an elementary school secretary while her daughters were young. Later, she worked in the medical records department at St. John’s Hospital before retiring in 1990. 








She enjoyed sewing, making all of her daughters’ clothes when they were young. Gardening, canning, beautiful flowerbeds. After retirement, she and Al spent many years RV-ing around the country, including Alaska. Loraine was a long-time member of Park Plaza Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Leroy, Lyle and Russell, and two sisters; Evelyn Cook and Louise Shahan.

Survivors include her husband; Albert Long, three daughters; Lynda Hoover (Bill), Anita Brown (Bert), and Phyllis Mestas (Bobby), six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, five brothers; Bob Bixler, Marvin Bixler, Dale Bixler, Cecil Bixler, Donald Bixler, and one sister; Doris Bixler.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021 at Union Cemetery near Stella, MO.

Shirley Thompson

Shirley J. Thompson, age 82, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday April 24, 2021, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.

Shirley was born on August 2, 1938 in Joplin, the daughter of the late Gilford and Mary (Mitchell) Wright. She has been a lifetime area resident. She graduated from Joplin Senior High School. 

She married Clifford Thompson on August 28, 1954 in Webb City, MO. Together they were blessed with three children. She worked for Safeway Bakery for twenty-seven years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.







She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Thompson in 1995; and by two brothers, Virgil Wright and Ennis Wright.

Shirley is survived by one son, Tim E. Thompson, Joplin; two daughters, Amy J. Forney and husband Larry, Galena, KS and Tracy Redmon and husband Michael, Joplin; one sister, Marjorie Reed and husband Danny, Boring, OR; fifteen grandchildren, Emily and Maggie Thompson, Shannon and Dee Holstrom, Eric and Ashley Holstrom, Nick and Desiree Russell, Katie Holstrom, Cody Rowland, Colton and Kimmy Redmon, and Hunter Redmon; twelve great-grandchildren, Whitney and Dalton Drager, Kayla Holstrom, Butch Fund and Harue, Autumn Holstrom, Brett, Dakota, and Emma Holstrom, Morgan Holstrom, Tristan Russell, Zachary Ward, Tanner Russell, Kaycee Rowland, Karsyn Rowland, and Aiden Redmon; and three great-great-grandchildren, Dylan Drager, Brantlee Drager, and Asher Hicks.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Fred Vogel will officiate. Burial will be In Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Claud Carter

Claud Anderson Carter, 94, of Stella, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the McDonald Living Center in Anderson, Missouri.

He entered this life on April 29, 1926 in Stella, Missouri, one of 10 children born to the late, Dannie and Mollie (Cook) Carter. He was a World War II Veteran, proudly serving our country in the United States Army. 

Claud married the love of his life, Mildred Maxine Harris on August 4, 1944 in Bentonville, Arkansas and to this union two daughters were born. 








He worked for Eagle Picher in Joplin, Missouri for 35 years. Claud enjoyed working on his farm, fishing and gardening. He was a devoted Cardinal Baseball fan, to the point that if they were not scoring, he would turn off the television.

Claud was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mildred Maxine Carter on March 12, 1982; six brothers, Troy, Floyd, Farrell, Junior, Gene and Bill; sister, Edna and son-in-law, Bill Francisco.

He is survived by his two daughters, Gail Francisco of Stella, Missouri, Pam Brittain and husband, Tim of Stella, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brandon Francisco and wife, Jody of Noel, Missouri, Casey Rickman of Stella, Missouri and Shawn Brittain of Stella, Missouri; six great grandchildren, Savannah, Riley and Wade Rickman, Madison and Ethan Francisco and Kenzie Brittain; two sisters, Juanita Whelan and husband, Hank of Plainfield, Illinois, Geneva Testerman and husband, Don of Noel, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Claud.

Funeral Services will be held on his Birthday at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri. Pastor Mark Sumler will officiate. 

Those honoring their grandfather’s life by serving as pallbearers are Brandon Francisco, Shawn Brittain, Ethan Francisco, Wade Rickman, Savannah Rickman, Madison Francisco, Riley Rickman and Casey Rickman. Lynda Kennedy

Lynda S. Kennedy was born March 16, 1951 in Anderson, Indiana, one of two daughters to Bert and Beulah (Tippie) Stalker. She entered into rest at her home on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the age of 70. 

Lynda was a graduate of Neosho High School class of 1969. She worked as a social worker in Arkansas for many years and returned to Neosho in 2016. 








She enjoyed baking, especially baking pies; gardening and knitting. 

Lynda is survived by her sister, Janice Farrell and husband, Dennis of Neosho; two nephews, one niece and numerous great nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Mary Dolbert.

Carol Rae Shockley of Pineville, MO went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2021, with her loving husband by her side after a battle with cancer.

Carol was born on June 25, 1963 in Gravette, AR to Calvin Swift and Mary Ann (January) Edwards. She was a member of the Pineville First Baptist Church. Carol was employed by Preferred Family Health Care as a case manager at Wild Wood Ranch in Joplin, MO. 








Carol loved her family, her friends and work. She gave a lot of herself to others, she loved family gatherings, crocheting and spending time with her husband and Beaumont her fur baby. She adored her work family and work kids and made a difference in all the lives she touched.

Carol was preceded in death by her mom; Mary Marler of Gravette, AR.

Carol is survived by her husband Johnny and fur baby Beaumont “Beau” of the home, Her daughter Alisha Shockley of Bella Vista AR, a son; Jesse Carnahan and wife Laura of Jay, OK, two sisters; Debbie Griggs and husband Larry of Norfolk, AR and Carla Lasiter and husband Dawayne of Pineville, MO, six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild as well as a host of other family and friends.

Johnny DeMasters

Johnny Dean DeMasters, age 71 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on April 23, 2021 at his home.

Johnny was born on August 16, 1949 in Joplin, Mo to the late Johnny A. and Dora Mae (Collings) DeMasters. 

On May 2, 1975, Johnny was united in marriage to the love of his life Cheryl Harkrader. Johnny was a machinist. The best machinist if you were to ask his family. He built engines, specializing in racecar engines. He did contract work for the city of Joplin.








Johnny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Cheryl DeMasters of the home, son Douglas Dean DeMasters of Joplin, Mo., and daughter Shelly Ann DeMasters of Joplin, Mo., one brother Danny DeMasters and wife Janet, as well as a host of extended family and loving friends.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Open visitation will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 during regular business hours. Interment will be at Hornet Cemetery at a later date.

Peggy Lee Rustin, age 65, of Webb City, MO, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at her home, following courageous battles with multiple lifelong illnesses.

Peggy was born on February 19, 1956 in Southwest City, MO, the daughter of Henry and Eloise (Crosby) Smith. 

Peggy was very faithful to God. At eight years of age, during vacation Bible School, she was saved. She loved junior and youth camp meetings. She graduated from McDonald County High School in 1974. She then attended Midwest Bible Institute in Houston, TX. She attended Southside Church in Joplin and Community Baptist Church in Noel, MO.








Peggy married the love of her life, Larry Rustin, on August 5, 1977 in Anderson, MO. Together they were blessed with two daughters. She home schooled her daughters, Lauren and Rachel. She was a devoted wife, mother, and “Nana”. She loved being a homemaker and baking and cooking. She was a friend to many and dearly loved by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Larry Rustin, Webb City, MO; two daughters, Lauren Manning and husband Joshua, Noel, MO, and Rachel Stemm and husband Andrew, Joplin, MO; her mother, Eloise Smith, Anderson, MO; one sister, Patsy Loncarich and husband James, Goodman, MO; four special sisters-in-law, Linda Rustin-Reardon, Evelyn Reardon, Randy Brown and Robin Raulston; and five grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Claire, Ryan and Jack. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Smith in October of 2020; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Pogue and Rita Anderson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 28, 2021 at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Alvin Buschman and Kendall Glenn will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery Webb City, MO.

Ebenee Shayain Munoz, 17, of Southwest City, Missouri, departed this life suddenly on Saturday, April 24, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Ebenee entered this life on April 21, 2004, in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of Jacqueline (Barton) Mitchell and Eric Munoz-Prez. She was a lifelong resident of Southwest City. 









Ebenee was in her Junior year at McDonald County High School, where she was involved in track, basketball, power lifting and the honors program. Ebenee had hopes of attending medical school. She enjoyed playing sports, spending time with her friends and working weekends at Sonic.

He maternal grandmother, Jackie Barton preceded her in death.

Ebenee is survived by her parents, Jacqueline Mitchell and husband, Mitch, of Southwest City and Eric Munoz-Prez of Noel; a brothers, Eric Munoz, Jr. of Southwest City; maternal grandfather, David Barton of Southwest City; paternal grandparents, Leoncia Prez and Servando Munoz; her boyfriend, Logan Harriman of Rocky Comfort; as well as a host of other family and countless friends.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2021, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Darin Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Saratogo Springs Cemetery.

Edna Irene Keyser, 78, Rocky Comfort, MO passed away April 24, 2021. She was born August 27, 1942 in Greenfield, MO to Annie Bell (Cox) and George Washington Dickerson. 

 
Edna was a retired assembly worker for General Motors of Flint, MI. She returned to the area from Michigan about a year and a half ago. 

She married Thomas Keyser, who has preceded her in death. 








Edna is survived by four children: Robert Eastburn, Teri Wawra, Carri Eastburn, and Rodney Eastburn; six brothers: J.O. Creviston, Marion Cox, George Dickerson, Henry Creviston, Woodrow Creviston, and Frank Creviston; four sisters: Mary Manely, Joyce Girdner, Nancy Durance, and Carling Wheeler; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, Edna was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherri Eastburn; one brother, Bill Creviston, and one sister, Nettie Creviston.

Angela Carney

Angela Marie Carney, 47, Neosho, MO entered into rest April 20, 2021. She was born February 22, 1974 in Joplin, MO to Linda Elaine (Gibbens) and Virgil Max Link. 

Angela was a laborer at Newell Products. She was of the Baptist faith. Angela enjoyed taking care of children and her family. 








She is survived by her mother, Linda (Link) Blevins of Neosho; three children, Dustin Carney, Vanessa Carney, and Aden Yoder, all of Neosho; two sisters, Annette Freytag and husband, Don of Pineville, MO and Christy Garcia of Neosho; and two grandchildren, William Munday and Mia Carney. 

Angela was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Link; one brother, Richard Max Link; maternal grandparents, Ruth and Loyd Gibbens; and paternal grandparents, Byron and Claudine Link.

Dave Oehring

Charles David ‘Dave’ Oehring was born November 22, 1928 in Neosho, Missouri, the son of Troy H. and Mable M. (McMahan) Oehring. He entered into rest on April 24, 2021 at the age of 92. 

Dave was a lifelong area resident and U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WW II. He was a self-employed contractor and a talented homebuilder and was featured in a national magazine for his work. 









In addition to residential construction, he worked and oversaw the expansion of Freeman-Neosho Hospital. He was a perfectionist and very detailed in his occupation. Dave loved to take his grandkids on rides on his moped; was an avid Cardinals Fan and enjoyed quail hunting and fishing. He was an avid gun and coin enthusiast. 

Dave and Marjorie Mae (Hunt) were united in marriage on June 25, 1948 and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2012. 

He is survived by a daughter, Eraina Cashel and husband, Mike of Neosho; two grandchildren, Matthew B. Cashel and Chelsey Ann Cashel and one sister, Mary M. Turpen. 

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home on Thursday to pay respects and sign the book. A private interment will be held.

Billy Brassfield

Billy Richard Brassfield, 71, of Pineville, Missouri, died April 25, 2021 at his home.

He was born May 3, 1949 in Bentonville, Arkansas, to Bill Brassfield and Joy Vale Wardlaw Brassfield. 

He formerly was the manager at MFA Feed. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, going to the lake, and cooking. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jesse William “Jay” Gordon Jr., 67 of Jasper, Missouri passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 7, 1953 in Webb City, Missouri to Jesse William Sr. and Bonnie (Reed) Gordon.

Jay was retired from the United States Air Force.

Jay was united in marriage to Mary Cunningham on September 1, 1971. She survives. 








Other survivors include one son, Jesse William Gordon III (Stephanie), one daughter, Pepper Gordon, two brothers, Robert Gordon Sr.,and Mark Gordon Sr., one sister, Mary Powell, five grandchildren, Tessa Cates, Elizabeth Carpenter, Rebecca Vogt, Matthew Gordon, and Brody Gordon. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Virginia Peters

Virginia Lee Peters, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away at home on April 25, 2021 at the age of 81 after an extended illness. Born August 19, 1939, to King E. Barnett and Emma Jeanne Barnett, 

Virginia lived in Monett until she married Major (USAF) Jerry M. Peters on December 26, 1955.

Virginia was a devoted wife and a dedicated military spouse, which included being an active member of base life as well as raising her children alone during her husband’s three tours to Asia. 








In the days before the internet, she wrote her husband every other day he was on tour, and included drawings, pictures, and letters from their children to ensure an easy transition when he returned home. The entire family was stationed for three years in Naples, Italy, where Virginia volunteered at the Naples Hospital, played on a basketball team, and modeled for fashion shows. Virginia stood out among her peers, and she was tapped to give classes on military protocol.

Upon Jerry’s military retirement in 1971, they returned to Pierce City where she was a member of the Garden Club, the Bridge Club, the Supper Club, and the PTA. Her famous New Year’s parties were enjoyed by friends and family. Wherever there was a need, Virginia volunteered, including for Meals on Wheels and the Veteran’s Home. She served as an active, life-time member of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary for Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207 in Monett. She twice served as president and held all the chairmanships on the auxiliary level. Some of her happiest and proudest memories were of her years on the VFW pool league. She was an exemplary mother, teaching her children to value honesty and fairness and loyalty.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her son Mark Peters and wife Kenna, and her brother Richard Barnett. Virginia is survived by daughter Valerie Sommer and husband, Art, of Springfield; daughter Victoria Howerton and husband, Phillip, of West Plains; son Eric Peters and wife, Ryna, of Jefferson City; and daughter Debra Hamilton and husband, Rick, of Carthage; as well as grandchildren Claudia, Sarita, Mitt, Mya, Mattie, McKelvie, and Nicole. She is also survived by brother Joe (Carole) Barnett, brother Tom (Vivian) Barnett, and sister, Rebecca Giboney.

Janice Larkin

Janice Marie (Colton) Larkin, 77, of Webb City, MO, died at 3:14 P.M., Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Freeman West Hospital.

She was born July 12, 1943 at Parsons, a daughter of George Almer and Leah (Poage) Colton. She grew up and attended school at Parsons, graduating from Parsons High with the Class of 1961. She lived a short time in Kansas City, MO and worked at the Hallmark Card Co.

On February 10, 1962 she and Dwayne E. Larkin were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church at Parsons. The couple lived in Fredonia and returned to Parsons in 1965. 








She then began baking cakes for weddings, birthdays and other occasions and was known as “The Cake Lady”. She made cakes until the couple moved to Little Rock, AR in 1989. They later moved to Webb City, MO in 2010. Mr. Larkin survives of the home.

While living in Parsons, Janice was a member of the First Baptist Church. Currently she was a member of Christ’s Church at Oronogo, MO. She enjoyed baking, scrapbooking and crafts, attending many craft fairs with her husband.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: her daughter and son in-law – Brenda and Donnie Sotta, Rural McCune, KS; one son and daughter in-law – Brent and Laarni Larkin, Joplin, MO; another daughter and son in-law – Angela and Jeff Pracht, Bentonville, AR; Eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters – Margie Shields, Panama City, FL, Pauline Shartzer, Wichita, KS, Joan Stueber, Kansas City, KS, Judi Vaughn, Kansas City, KS. 

She was preceded in death by two brothers – Raymond “Bud” Colton, Dean Colton; two sisters – Phyllis Colton, Dorothy Worrall and one grandson – Daniel Sotta.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Mark Christian officiating. A private burial will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Berlyn Bowen

Berlyn Elmer Bowen passed away early on the morning of April 20, 2021 at Northwood Hills Nursing Home in Humansville. He suffered and fought several heart attacks that eventually caused Congestive Heart Failure that took him away so early.

Berlyn loved to go fishing. There were not many more things that he loved more than being knee-deep in mud, catching catfish on our grandparent’s farm north of Caplinger. 








He also loved to tinker with small engines. If something was broken he would take it apart and there would be parts everywhere. He found such great joy in making something work that no one else was able to fix. But more than anything, he loved being a dad. His son Waylon was his reason for being and he beamed with joy when speaking about him and the things they would be able to do.

Berlyn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Jewell Burns, and Ray and Helen Bowen, his father Merlyn Bowen as well as his brother Jerry Bowen. He leaves behind, in mourning, his mother Lucile Bowen of Stockton, 2 sisters Linda Wykoff and her husband Aaron of Stockton, Brenda Shanks and husband Mike of Lockwood, Tommy Bowen, and wife Amber of El Dorado Springs, and most precious to him is his son Waylon of the home. He had numerous nephews and nieces, as well as countless cousins. He also had friends that loved him like family in the Henry family who are very appreciated for their care and love before death and the continued care after his passing

At the request of our beloved, there will be no services, but a spreading of his ashes with close friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be given to help in the care of his son moving forward and left with Bland-Brumback Funeral home in Stockton.

Scott Musgrove

Scott Anthony Musgrove passed away on Tuesday April 20, 2021. He was born December 2, 1970 in Lamar, MO to Peter and Shelley (Strong) Musgrove. He grew up in Lamar, MO and graduated from Lamar High School in 1989. He graduated at 17 and moved to Tulsa, OK. 

He attended Missouri Southern State University, graduating with an Associate of Science degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design. 








Scott worked in the four states area including O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar, MO, Able Body in Pittsburg, KS, Business Advantage in Lamar, MO and Finley Engineering CO in MO. KS, and AR. At the time of his death, he was living in Springfield, MO and working as a machine operator at Timken Belts. 

He loved animals and had a special affinity and fondness for the elderly, that he developed while his mother was working at a nursing home. He was an adventurous big kid who enjoyed making people laugh. 

Scott is survived by his sister, Misty (Andy) Marti of Lamar, MO; brother, Zack Musgrove of Pittsburg, KS; nieces and nephews; Cooper, Drew, and Hannidy Marti of Lamar, MO and Erika Steeby of Pittsburg, KS; and his partner Martina Austin and her daughter Lilly of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his Aunt, Sari (Rick) Hornbeck of Lamar, MO, and Uncles, David (Christy) Strong of Lamar, MO, Mick (Pam) Strong of Ft. Smith, AR, and Doyle Dunagan of Lamar, MO. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Erik Musgrove. 

The family would appreciate donations in lieu of flowers to be made to the funeral expenses. The family will receive visitors on Saturday May 1, 2021 at 10 AM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. A service will follow at 11 AM.
