Stephen Westerhouse

Stephen Michael Westerhouse, age 61, of Wyandotte, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

Mr. Westerhouse was born on July 10, 1959 to Glen and Barbara (Masters) Westerhouse in Richmond, MO. After high school he honorably served in the United States Army where he was a Sergeant severing six years following the footsteps of his father and grandfather. 


 On June 28, 2009 he was united in marriage to Sue Blanchard. 








Stephen worked most of his life as a truck driver and had previously been employed with Frontier Leasing as the Safety Director. He was fluent in aiki-jui jitsu and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and working on his farm. He loved mornings with the family all together where he would cook a big breakfast. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren. He was proud to be called son, brother, uncle, and nephew, but the names he loved, the ones that completed his life, were babe, dad, and papa.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Westerhouse, of Wyandotte; his children, Billy Westerhouse, and Sarah, of Kansas City, Annie Strickland, and Jeff, of Neosho, Andre Oakley, of Joplin, Amanda Martinosky, of Branson, April South, and Chad, of Aurora, Alesha South, of Wyandotte, Glen Westerhouse, of Wyandotte, and Samuel Westerhouse, and Olivia, of El Paso; brothers, Larry and Randy Westerhouse, both of Minnesota; sisters, Valerie Goodnight, of Mt. Vernon, and Sherri Steinbrook, of Baldwin City, KS; fourteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Glen Westerhouse, and one grandson, Ezekiel Martinosky.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
