Ellen Curry

(From Parker Mortuary)

Pearlene Ellen Curry was born October 2, 1949 and entered the gates of glory and the arms of Jesus on April 17, 2021 due to many health complications.

Ellen was preceded in death by both parents, Purnie and Ishmael Watkins; two sisters, Eva and Kay; two brothers, Floyd and Larry; as well her husband, Brian Gene Curry; son, James Allen Kearnes; and grandson, Jacob Tyree Curry.

She is survived by one brother, Leroy, and one sister, Debbie; two sons, Ty and Aaron Curry; and one daughter, Lori Curry; eight granddaughters and one grandson; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Ellen was a woman, independent, strong, and determined. She loved intently, prayed fervently, served graciously, sacrificed willingly, and gave generously. Ellen never had much but with what she had, she did so much. Opening her home to people in need, cooking for family and friends, especially her church, helping her nieces, whom she cared for as her own, and spending time at other’s sides as they journeyed through difficult times; that was who Ellen was. She was the glue that held everyone together. She was a protective mama as well, willing to throw-down with anyone who threatened the happiness and well being of those she loved the most.

Ellen was an inspirational woman of God who trusted the Lord implicitly. On the mountain tops and in the deepest of valleys in her life, she never wavered from her faith. She shared her faith and wore it on her sleeve as a hallmark to her character and a witness to all that she was bought by the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” ~ ESV 31:29 Proverbs

The family will hold a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Hornet Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Barnabas Fund at Hornet Christian Church in Ellen’s memory. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
