Zeta Johnston

Zeta Dell Johnston, 81, passed away from natural causes on Sunday, April 11th, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Carthage, Missouri. 

After graduating from Donna, Texas, she moved to Kansas, where she attended Friends University, then to Carthage in 1973. She was the director of Little Folks’ School, and served on their board of directors for many years after retirement. 

She was an active member of Fairview Christian Church and the Homebuilders’ Sunday School class; the Carthage Kiwanis Club; and formerly of the Para Optometric Association and the Society of Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, her Bridge and Bible study groups, and spending time with her family and friends.

Zeta was united in marriage to Albert Johnston on March 28th, 1997 in Carthage, Missouri; he survives.








Additional survivors include her daughter Leasa Moffatt and her husband Tony of Huntsville, Alabama, and their children Andrew, William, Grant, Tori, and Cate; her daughter Tresa Roth of Bristow, Virginia, and her children Alexa, Haley, Camryn, Jack, and Kyle; a granddaughter Jessica Ryun of Springfield, and her son Braxton; a step-daughter Dawn Weber and her husband Tom of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and their children Chloe and Lorelei; her step-daughter Darcey Johnston of Orange, California; and her sister Jo Kay Dargel and her husband Rusty from Weslaco, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, her son David Ryun, her son-in-law Bob Roth, and her step grandson, Nigel Weber.

Visitation is Friday, April 16th from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, and the funeral will be Saturday, April 17th at 10. Both will be at Ulmer’s Funeral Home with graveside services afterward at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
