(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Holland R. Ellis, age 67 of Rural Galena, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Holland was born on December 21, 1953 to the union of Holland F. Ellis and E. Gleneda (Hodgel) Ellis. He graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1971, and later attended K-State University where he studied engineering.
He worked for many years as owner/operator of the Riverton Cable Company, expanding his operation to several communities throughout Cherokee County. He was a lifetime resident of the area.
Holland was united in marriage with Brenda S. (Herron) Ellis on September 19, 1987 in Galena. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Nate Ellis of Lowell, KS; two daughters, Chas Flanagan (husband, Sean) of Joplin, and Savanah Ellis of Riverton; one sister, Gleneda Borton of San Rafael, CA; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Holland and Gleneda Ellis.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Lowell Cemetery, rural Baxter Springs. Visitation will take place at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena immediately prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
