(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Joyce Marie York, Age 71, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021. She was born September 27, 1949 in Joplin, MO to Paul and Marie Fitzer.
After graduating from Carl Junction High School, she attended Missouri Southern College for two years. She then transferred to the University of Missouri – Columbia, where she graduated with her degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Joyce was a dedicated 27-year employee of Jasper County Family Services. She began her career as a case worker in the children’s division and retired as a supervisor of the unit that dealt with foster care and adoption.

Joyce is survived by Buster, her husband of 49 years, son Jason York and Carl, of Kansas City, MO; daughter Kasey Caves of Joplin, MO. Three grandsons Isaac and Hudson Caves, of Joplin, MO, and Henry Glorioso-York, of Kansas City, MO; many extended family and friends, all of whom she cherished. She was an active member of Villa Heights Christian Church for over 55 years. Our loss is truly heavens gain.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 24, at Villa Heights Christian Church in Joplin. Visitation will be 5:00-6:00 pm on Friday, April 23, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the White Fields Overseas Evangelism and Lamplighter World Ministries in care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
