Bob Callaway

Robert Eugene “Bob” Callaway, Sr., age 86, Carthage, Missouri, passed away early Monday morning, April 12, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Florence Roscoe Callaway and Stella Mae (Pugh) Callaway. 

Bob was a Veteran serving his country with the United States Navy. He married Kay JoAnn Powell on September 13, 1954 in Osceola, Missouri. He worked as a supervisor for the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Fenton, Missouri. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Washington, Missouri, and the El Dorado Springs VFW Post 257. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, bingo, but especially spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.








Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Kay Callaway; three children, Robert Callaway, Jr. (Zoe), Washington, Missouri, Craig Callaway, Sr. (Karen), Washington, Missouri, and Cheryl Steever (David), Joplin, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Craig Callaway, Jr. (Lauren), Amanda Jo Callaway (Bryon), Dylan Callaway, Brent Callaway, Gina Gurnow (Steve), Brittany Sappington, and Jordon Steever; four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Tatumn, Amia, and Raighna; a sister, Louise Head (Don); and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Callaway, and a sister, Shirley Lewinski.

Private family services were held at the Praying Hands Memorial in Webb City, Missouri with full military honors performed by Joplin VFW Post 534. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmorutary.com.
