(From Parker Mortuary)Sunday, May 1, 2022 Lorena Hunter, age 81, of Carl Junction, went home to her eternal reward. There is rejoicing in heaven at her homecoming.
Lorena, daughter of the late, Jess Loren and Viola Pearl (Hildreth) Hartje, of Joplin, was born on June 2, 1940. She was raised in the Central City Christian Church.
She was united in marriage to Charles Hunter on December 22, 1957 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2009.
The couple had three daughters, Diana Lynn, Charlene May, and Florena Pearl. Charles was a preacher and the couple worked in churches in Oklahoma, Missouri, New York, and Kansas.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lorena was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Scuffham, one brother, Jess (Bud) Hartje, and one daughter, Diana Pirkey.
Survivors include her daughters, Charlene Kyser, and her husband, Vincent, of Carl Junction, and Florena Brodman, of Joplin; her sisters, Mary Ann Hansen, of Joplin, and Linda Duncan, of Branson; her grandchildren, Tim Allen, and his wife, Mandy, Cassandra Pirkey, Jessica Hubbard, and her husband, Matt, all of Coffeyville, Aaron Kyser, and his wife, Kristina, of Newton County, Hiliary Smith, and her husband, Greg, of Galena, Lydia Morey, and her husband, Jacob, of Carl Junction, Sorena Frostad, of Miller, and Jonathon Littell-Brodman, and husband, Terry of Coffeyville; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11:30 AM at the Fir Road Christian Church with burial to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3rd from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Fir Road Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fir Road Christian Church Dollar Club and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
