Frances Barnard

Frances J. Barnard, age 79 formerly of Joplin, Mo., died at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday November 20, 2013, at the Willow Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs, Mo., where she was currently residing.

Frances was born on May 7, 1934 in Joplin, the daughter of Jerry and Maude (Orr) Castell. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Willow Springs. Frances was a homemaker and spent her days loving and caring for her family. She also loved her church and enjoyed playing BINGO. Frances competed in the Golden Age Games where she won several medals. She loved to go shopping and cooking for residents of her apartment complex and most importantly, her most favorite thing to do was talk about her grandkids.

She married Lawrence Barnard on May 12, 1978 in Joplin, he preceded her in death. Survivors include six children; Richard Vicory of Mammoth Springs, Ar., Susan Batcheller of Seattle, Wa., Sharon Murch of Covington, La., Howard Vicory of Kirkland, Wa., Mike Rhine of Tracy, Ca. and Diane Peacock of Vacaville, Ca., four step-children; John Vaile of Carthage, Mo., Delilah Manual of Kileen, Tx., Dannal Treadwell of Pico Rivera, Ca., Sherry Larimore of Stafford, Va., two brothers; Lloyd Barnard of Galena, Ks., Floyd Barnard of Joplin, two sisters; Garnett O’Banion and Connie Coleman both of Joplin, twenty-two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Frances was also preceded in death by one step-daughter; Geraldine Shank, one brother and five sisters.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Mason-Woodard. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
