Myrtle Murray

Myrtle Margery Murray, 95, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Joplin, Missouri. Myrtle was born December 2, 1917 in Pottawattamie, Oklahoma. She was born to James Winter and Margery Edney. Myrtle was a lifetime resident of Jasper County. She owned and operated the Superett Grocery in Jasper for 12 years and she was a L.P.N. for 35 years. Myrtle attended First Christian Church.

Myrtle married Elwood Hill on April 18, 1936 in Carthage. He preceded her in December of 1979. She later married Leslie Murrary on January 13, 1985 in Sarcoxie, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
Myrtle is survived by two sons Dan Hill and wife Lois of Carthage and William Hill and wife Janice of Joplin, two daughters Joyce VanHoose and husband Scott of Carthage and Theresa and David Williams of Joplin, one brother Russell Winter and one sister Joyce Lampkin both of Bakersfield, CA, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Myrtle was preceded by her parents, her husband Elwood Hill, her husband Leslie Murray, two sisters Bessie McKelvey and Nina Jones, and two grandsons.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Open visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.
