Lloyd Gorda

Lloyd A. Gorda, age 76, of Webb City, MO, passed away on Thursday, November 7th, 2013, at 8:00am, after battling COPD for several years. He was born December 31st, 1936, in Springfield, Illinois. After graduating high school, Lloyd joined the Air Force and retired after twenty years of service.


     Lloyd was a kind and generous father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very patriotic and proud that he served his country. Even after all these years, during each holiday, he would still hoist the flag and salute. Lloyd always beamed with pride when he talked about his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family was the heart of his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh that we will always remember.


     He married Arlene Emily Christenson on February 18th, 1958 in Great Falls, Montana. She passed away on November, 27th, 2001.


     Survivors include two siblings, Sally Jureczko of Dallas, GA and Bernard Gorda of Columbia, MD; six children, Sonja Blanchard of Pittsburg, KS, Lon Gorda of Baxter Springs, KS, Mari Gorda of Atlanta, GA, John Gorda of Springfield, IL, Jane Roberts of Springfield, IL and Jackie Glasscock of Springfield, IL; his grandchildren, David Blanchard of Pittsburg, KS, Jacob Blanchard of Pittsburg, KS, Holly Woodward of Webb City, MO, Shawn Gorda of Shreveport, LA, Kristen Gorda of Joplin, MO, Hannah Gorda of Hume, MO; his great grandchildren, Kylie Blanchard of Neosho, MO, David Blanchard III of Pittsburg, KS, and Gracie Woodward of Webb City, MO.


     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Gorda, his two daughters, Dee Gorda and Ginger Reppond, his granddaughter, Megan Reppond, and his twin brother, Floyd Gorda.


     Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Parker Mortuary in charge of funeral arrangements.
