Thelma Mitchell

Thelma Leona Mitchell, 92, Neosho, passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.

Thelma was born December 13, 1920, in Slick, Oklahoma, to the late Henry Orr and Harvey Bell Orr and had lived in the Joplin area for the past 12 years.

A homemaker, she was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting.

Her husband, Everett Mitchell, preceded her in death in May of 1976.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Virgil Mitchell; a grandson, Robert Bateson; and a great-grandson, Abraham Koury.

Survivors include a son, Danny Mitchell and his wife, Karen, Neosho; one sister, Betty Jo Alloway and her husband, Mel, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are planned for Tuesday at 12 p.m. at Little Cemetery, Little, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
