Beverly Heistand, age 74, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Friday February 9, 2018, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Beverly was born on November 16, 1942 in Lawrence, Ks., the daughter of the late William Joe and Wilma (Hinds) May. She has been a resident of Carl Junction since 1988, moving here from Lamar, Mo. She was a teacher for Head Start in Joplin for over 30 years. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She married Kenneth Bruce Heistand on November of 1976 in Miami, Ok. and he survives. Additional survivors include one daughter, Sara Heistand, Carl Junction, Mo.; six sons, Tim Crawford, Joplin, Mo., Rick Crawford, Monett, Mo., Chris Crawford, Joplin, Adam Heistand, Joplin, D.J. Heistand, Joplin, and Devin Heistand, Joplin; one sister, Lana Robertson, Lamar, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Brody, Emma, Lily, and Mallory.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Joplin. Bishop William Tucker will officiate.
