William E. “Bill” Selvey, age 86, of Lockwood, Mo., passed away on Sunday February 25, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Community Care Center, following an illness.
Bill was born on November 30, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Mo., the son of the late Walter Allen and Irile Jane (Treat) Selvey. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a journeyman machinist for Vickers, Midway Machine, Teledyne, and O’Sullivan, retiring from General Electric. Bill was a pilot and he enjoyed watching sunsets from above. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oronogo. He was also a member of the Lockwood American Legion.
He married Clarice Smith on February 18, 1955 in Joplin. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2012. He was also preceded in death by one son, Kirk Selvey, in 2015; one daughter, Marla Jane Selvey, in 1965; two grandsons, Kenny Curtis in 2004, and Keith Curtis in 2008; one brother, Floyd Selvey; and one sister, Ann Hrenchir.
Bill married Leona Litle-Weimer on February 2, 2013, in Lockwood, Mo., and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Vickie Ezell, Joplin, and Anissa Shumate (William), Joplin; four step-children, Rick Weimer (Janice), Cheryl Queen (Lenis), Randy Weimer (Dixie), and Debbie Perkins (Randy), all of Lockwood, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Dalton Selvey, Carthage, Mo.; one sister, Viola Willis, Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kara Patterson (Coby), Kyle Selvey (Nicole), Kreg Selvey (Rena), Kathy Spruce (Justin), Brad Ezell, and Chris Shumate; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thurday at Mason-Woodard Chapel Ron Lake, Minister will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
