(From Daniel Funeral Home)
Nickie Leon Sinnett, age 71, of Lamar, unexpectedly passed away Saturday morning, February 10, 2018 at his home.
Nickie was born July 26, 1946, in Slater, Missouri, youngest of the three children of Forrest and Allie (Perkins) Sinnett. His childhood was spent in Marshall, Missouri and he was raised by his mother and step-father, Lester Cleveland. Nickie was preceded in death by all three parents and two sisters, Pat and Anna.
In 1966, Nickie married Judy Nichols and they had three children, Tammy, Nichole, and Louis. Nickie and Judy later divorced. On June 5, 2000, at Miami, Oklahoma, Nickie married Tamara Hoover and she preceded him in death December 24, 2003.
A skilled auto mechanic, Nickie had worked for several auto repair shops and was known to be generous with his time and talent for family and friends in need of car or motorcycle repair. He retired from the City of Lamar after working in the water plant for many years. Nickie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. His home was a gathering place and he relished the fellowship of friends willing to challenge him in Snooker. He liked nothing better than an opportunity to tell someone how proud he was of his kids and how special each and every grandchild was to him.
Survivors include Nickie’s girlfriend, Rebekah Arehart, of the home; his children, Tammy Shutters, Nichole (Eric) Jeffries, and Louis Sinnett, all of Lamar; nine grandchildren, John Sinnett, Matt Manley, Crystal Manley, Danielle Heathman, Brandy Heathman, Denny Jeffries, Erika Jeffries, Nichole Sinnett, and Logan Sinnett. Nickie delighted in his 11 great-grandchildren and was looking forward to welcoming his 12th great-grandchild to the family in July.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13th, at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sinnett family in care of the funeral home
