Ola Mae Burge, 85, Neosho, went to be with the Lord Feb. 18, 2018. She was born Jan. 10, 1933 in Smithville, AR to Clarence and Zela S. (Landers) Smith.
Ola married Marion Steele Burge on April 23, 1951 in Batesville, AR; he preceded her in death on July 24, 2013. Ola attended beauty school in Memphis, studying Cosmetology; she and her husband, Steele owned and operated Wonderland Nursery in Cave City, AR, in addition to the farm where they raised cattle and chickens. She was a devout Christian, a graduate of Faith Bible Institute, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was an excellent gardener and cook; she loved flowers, reading, fishing, and chocolate. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and knitting.
Ola is survived by two daughters: Kathy Gambill and husband, Don of Neosho, and Brenda Howard and husband, Farris of Ozark, AR; five grandchildren: Angela Shairrick and husband, Michael of Conway, AR, Elizabeth McKelvy and husband, Joey of Neosho, MO, Jamie Farmer and husband, Clyde of Diamond, MO, Natalie Walker and husband, Dustin of Cecil, AR, and Sam Wilcox and wife, Lara of Ozark, AR; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters: Janie Deere and husband, Bill of Memphis, TN and Anna Massey of Batesville, AR.
In addition to her husband, Ola was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristy Wilcox.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, with Pastor Ron Crow officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 until 7 pm at the Funeral Home.
