Judith Marie Garringer, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 1:27 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at her home. She was born February 18, 1947, in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of Carrol and Jewel (Gardner) Roach.
Judy was a 1965 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a seamstress for the Anderson Uniform Company in Mt. Vernon. She was also an EMT for the Mt. Vernon Ambulance District and the Mercy Ambulance and was of the Baptist faith.
In June of 1966 she married Johnny Wayne Garringer in Chesapeake, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1979.
Judy is survived by one daughter, Lesa Leggett of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Douglas Garringer and his wife, Lori, of Billings, Missouri and Grant Garringer and his wife, Tricia, of Long Beach, Mississippi; one brother, Clyde Roach and his wife, Donna, of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Mary Ann Johnson and her husband, Ray, of Marionville, Missouri, Dorthy Jones and her husband, Jim, of Mt. Vernon, Virginia Styron and her husband, Emery, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Norma Stewart of Mt. Vernon; one sister-in-law, Allene Roach, of Joplin, Missouri and six grandchildren.
Her parents, Carrol and Jewel, husband, J.W., brother, Eddie Roach and brother-in-law, Cleatus Stewart, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon with burial to follow at the Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018, in the funeral home chapel.
