Bob Middleton

Robert D. “Bob” Middleton, 90, of Mound Valley, died at 2:56 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022, at his home.

He was born March 27, 1932, on a farm near Hallowell, to John E. and Viola (Walls) Middleton. In 1936 the family moved to the Thayer area and he graduated from Thayer High School in 1949. In 1949 he moved to Parsons and graduated from Parsons Junior College in 1951. He lived in Parsons until moving to rural Mound Valley in 1955.








Bob was employed at the M-K-T Railroad from 1952 to 1957. In 1957 he began employment with Kansas State University as a research technician in animal science. He retired in 1995. He also owned and operated Middleton electrical service, cut and sold firewood, and after his wife passed, he finished making her quilts and donated them.

He and Irma Mae Black were married on July 11, 1952, at Thayer. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2015. They loved to round dance and square dance and held the A1-A2 level in square dancing. He attended the Pleasant Hill Church near Dennis.

Bob is survived by two sons, Edward D. “Ed” Middleton of Cleveland, OK, and Ron R. Middleton, and his wife, Terri of Carthage, MO; five grandchildren, Josh Middleton, Tony Middleton, Ezekiel Ramirez, Azariah Ramirez, and Kloee Stuckey; two great-grandchildren; Mya and Mason Middleton; and a brother, Charles Middleton of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews. 








He was preceded in death by two brothers; John Middleton and David Middleton; a sister, Irene Fender, and two infant sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Encarnacion officiating. Burial will take place in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date. Friends may come to the funeral home to sign the register at their convenience. Memorials are suggested to the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 VFW, and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
