(From Clark Funeral Home)Katherine Lou Hames, 85, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away on June 3, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Katherine was born on May 18, 1941, to Harry Sprenkle Sr. and Beatrice Stone. She graduated from Neosho High School with the Class of 1960 and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She operated an in-home daycare for many years, providing loving care to countless children for many local families. She later worked at College View State School as a school bus driver and teacher's aide before retiring.
On September 27, 1963, Katherine married John Lee Hames in Neosho and he survives of the home.
Katherine enjoyed crocheting and lovingly created countless handmade gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, talking on the phone, and spending time with those she loved most. Katherine was affectionately known as "Gogie" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured every moment with her family and loved them all. Katherine was also a faithful member of the Jehovah's Witness faith.
She is survived by her husband John Hames, her four children, Johnnie Clint Hames and wife, Dixie, of Neosho, Robin Lynn Hames of Neosho, Michael Brent Hames of Neosho, and Philip Kent Hames of Neosho; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter; and three brothers, Harry Sprenkle Jr., Carl Craig, and Clyse Craig.
Private family services will be held.
