Dan L. Turner, age 68, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday May 21, 2015, at his home following an illness.
Dan was born on October 17, 1946 in Blackwell, Ok. the son of the late James and Sarah Turner. He has been a resident of Joplin for the past forty-two years. He married Joyce Whitlock on September 15, 1972. Together they raised four children. He was a member of Central Christian Center. He has worked at the Water Treatment Plant, as an auto and diesel mechanic, and as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and riding motorcycles.
Dan is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Joyce Turner; three sons, Mike Turner and wife Joan, Ponca City, Ok., Dan L. Turner, Jr. and wife Crystal, Joplin, and Juston Turner, Joplin; one daughter, Lacanda Mikeska and husband Anthony, Joplin; three sisters, Joetta Wood and husband Larry, Joyce Matthews and husband David, and Judy Turner and Mark Stohr; nine grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dawnya Niccole Turner; and three brothers, Ogletha Dewayne Turner, James Robert Turner, and George Edward Turner.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Doug Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Freeman Dialysis Center in care of the Mortuary.
