Ginger Kathleen Hayes, age 52, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Friday May 1, 2015, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Ginger was born on October 15, 1962 in Baton Rouge, La., the daughter of Wiley Marhurin, Sr. and Nelda (Smith) Mahurin. She married Walter Hayes on May 9, 1980 in Baton Rouge, La. Together they raised three children. She worked for Byers Avenue First United Methodist Church as the pastor’s assistant. During the tornado she served as the church’s coordinator of volunteers. Prior to that she was a real estate agent. Ginger was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church where she was very active with the women’s planning team. She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful host who exhibited the utmost hospitality. She loved Jesus and she loved people.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-five years Walter Hayes, Carl Jct., Mo.; two sons, Walter Hayes, V and his wife Lindsey, Carl Jct., Mo., and Richard Hayes and wife Amber, Joplin; one daughter, Brandie Crusa and husband Travis, Anderson, Mo.; her mother, Nelda Mahurin, Gonzales, La.; one brother Wiley Mahurin, Jr. and wife Tatum, Gonzales, La.; one sister, Donna Mahurin, New Roads, La.; and seven grandchildren, Nevin Hayes, Jovie Hayes, Bree Hayes, Will Hayes, Kale Hayes, Layla Hayes, and Tyson Crusa. She was preceded in death by her father, Wiley Mahurin, Sr.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Faith Assembly of God Church. Reverend Larry Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Women of Faith Assembly of God in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
