Rose Marie Stewart, of Lamar, Missouri passed away at the age of 101 in her home on April 29, 2015.
Rose was born January 10, 1914 in Sanford, Maine and spent most of her childhood in Maine. She enjoyed many activities including going on clam digs, playing basketball in high school, playing piano, singing, dancing and reading. She loved to crochet and made many baby blankets for the Ronald McDonald House. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lamar.
On September 4, 1938, she married Warren Earl Stewart and together they raised six children and one granddaughter. The wife of an Army Chaplain, Rose lived in several different states as well as France and Okinawa. They retired from military life in 1972 and moved to Sunsites, Arizona where Warren pastored The Community Church of Sunsites for several years. In 2009, after 35 years in Arizona, Rose and Warren moved to Lamar.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, a daughter Loralie Ann; and her husband of 72 years, Warren Earl.
Survivors include sons, Ronald and wife, Beverly Stewart, Ozark, Alabama; Kevin and Shelly Stewart, Lamar; daughters, Amy and husband James Cowan of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brenda Stewart of Lamar, Susan and husband David Dodson of Richmond Hills, Georgia; and granddaughter Janet and husband Luis Velasquez of Clarksville, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Services for Rose will be held at the First Baptist Church in Lamar at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at 2:30 until service time at the church. Memorial funds may be donated to the First Baptist Church of Lamar.
