Louise Broadwater DeVries age 87 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Friday May 22, 2015 at the home of her daughter surrounded by family members.
She was born January 31, 1928 in Carthage, Missouri to the late Benjamin and Rosie Mae (Mabie) Broadwater.
Louise was a homemaker, wife and mother. She cherished her children and her grandchildren. She delighted in family gatherings and a house full of laughter.
She married Paul DeVries on February 10, 1948 in Joplin, Missouri and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2011. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, and three sisters.
Louise is survived by one son; Paul DeVries and wife Judi, Avon, Ohio, two daughters; Phyllis Smith and husband Harold, Pittsburg, Kansas, Patricia Tisdale and husband Frank, Joplin, Missouri, seven grandchildren; Brandon DeVries and wife Carmen, Laurel, Maryland, Janna Borning and husband, David, Seattle, Washington, Tara Fleck and husband, Tom Bolding, Tori Chandler and husband Brent, Pittsburg, Kansas, Andy Tisdale, Joplin, Missouri, Jason Tisdale and wife Sarah, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Melanie Michalewicz and husband Chris, Kansas City, Missouri, ten great grandchildren; Ava, Ily, Zoe, Vivian Jasmine, JaShawn, Sayah, Fiona, Nolan, Emmett, two brothers; Benjamin Broadwater, Olatha, Kansas, Glen Broadwater, Kansas City, Missouri, three sisters; Maurine Wiswell, Joplin, Missouri, Zeta Gaskin, Columbia, Missouri, Pat Broadwater, Joplin, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday May 26, 2015 at the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Pastor Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service.
