Dixie Marie Sparks, age 85, of Lamar, MO died Friday, May 22, 2015 at her home following an illness.
Dixie was born June 30, 1929 at El Dorado Springs, MO, to Royston Thompson and Gladys I (McCudy) Thompson. She grew up and attended school in El Dorado Springs. On November 15, 1952, she married Lindsey Clyde Sparks at Nevada, MO and together, they raised three children. Lindsey preceded her in death March 29, 2002. Dixie’s passion was bowling. She bowled many years with her children, grandchildren and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games, crocheting and plastic canvas. Dixie was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves as well as the Springfield Cardinals and was involved in her grandchildren’s sports. She always had a smile for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Amy) Sparks, Sheldon, MO; two daughters, Linda Enochs & Roger Box, Marshall, TX and Janice (Wayne) Seaton, Lamar, MO; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William “Bud” (Maxine) Thompson, Nevada, MO and James (Virginia) Thompson, El Dorado, MO; two sisters, Alice Meek, Pittsburg, KS and Martha Sparks, Lamar, MO; numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lindsey, she was preceded in death by her parents in the 80’s.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow at Martin Cemetery, El Dorado Springs, MO. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
