Lorrain Duff, age 85, Joplin, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015 at a local nursing center after a long, loving life.
Mrs. Duff was born May 9, 1930 in Stone County, Missouri to the late Sydney Gillette and Marie Hosick Gillette and had lived in the Joplin area since the mid 1950's.
A homemaker, Lorrain worked hard to maintain the home while raising four sons, finishimg her degree and teaching school for several years. She also worked for World Book Encyclopedias in sales and training.
Lorrain was an active and faithful member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Club.
She married Rogers Duff on May 21, 1947 in Monett, Missouri. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include four sons, George Edward Duff, Carthage, Steven Rogers Duff, Joplin, David Duff, Joplin, Phillip Alan Duff and his wife, Chrissie, Joplin; seven grandchildren, Rachael, Mollie, Jake, Gretchen, Jordan, Max, Paris; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lorrain was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas Knight; two brothers and one sister.
Services are planned for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church. Max Rainey will officiate. Interment will follow at Sarcoxie Cemetery. The sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Byers Avenue United Methodist Church.
