Billie Louis Worthington, age 83 of Joplin, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, following a sudden illness.
Billie was born September 17, 1931 to the late Ernest Jacob Worthington and Addie Maddie Jenny Blankenship Worthington in Harrison, Arkansas.
Billie was a machinist for many years working from Joplin to California and back. He attended church at Shepherd's Chapel in Gravette, Arkansas. Billie proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, winning numerous medals throughout his time of service in the Korean War.
On July 20, 1951, he married Betty Lamb after just a few dates together in Bentonville, Arkansas. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include sons, Wayne Worthington of Anza, California, Danny Worthington of San Dimas, California; daughters, Dixie Lujan of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Cheryle Ann Guthrie and husband, Mike of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; brother, E.W. "Chuck" Worthington and wife, Kitty of Springfield, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great, great-grandchildren plus many extended family and friends.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Gerald Worthington, three brothers and two sisters.
Services for Billie will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri. Burial will take place following the service at 2:00 P.M. at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
