Following a long illness, Patricia Rainey Humphrey passed away in Fort Myers, Florida on May 5th 2015. Born January 25th 1928 to Hugh D. and Helen Landreth Rainey, Patty was a life long resident of Joplin before moving to Florida in 2000.
When she attended the University of Missouri, she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
A member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, she was also involved in other local organizations including PEO.
She was a gifted artist, loving mother and a fun grandmother.
Surviving are a sister, Martha R. Daiello (Tom) of Montana, and a brother William L. Rainey (Ann) of Kansas City.
She also leaves three daughters, Sarah G. Leffen of Denver, CO, Elizabeth L. Cole (Martin) of Overland Park, KS, Penny L. Scearce (Bill) of Joplin, and four granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.
In her final years, Patty acquired a new family of wonderful caregivers who cared for her as their own mother.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary with private burial following at Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. Ted Estes will be the officiant with Alex Curchin as lay leader.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in care of Parker Mortuary to the American Diabetes Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
