Claude M. "Buddy" Sasser, age 89 of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at National Health Care in Joplin, following an extended illness.
Buddy was born January 12, 1928 in Dowling Park, Florida to the late Slaytey Sasser and Cora Oldham Sasser. Buddy retired from the U.S. Army, serving in the Special Forces for 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.
On September 16, 1982, Buddy married Gwendolyn L. Key in Dillon, North Carolina. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a stepdaughter, Teri Cahow and husband, David of Chester, Virginia; a granddaughter, Tori Diehl of Midlothian, Virginia.
Buddy's wishes were to be cremated, with Military Honors conducted at a later date in Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors in care of the mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
